Yallourn Power Station

TRUenergy Yallourn operates a 1,450 megawatt Power Station and a 18 million tonne of brown coal per annum open cut mine.

In March 2001, Silcar formed an alliance with TRUenergy Yallourn Power Station to further enhance the reliability of the power station. This was followed by the outsourcing of the mine maintenance services to Silcar in May 2002. Not long after outsourcing mine maintenance to Silcar, TRUenergy Yallourn entered into an alliance arrangement with the RTL joint venture to operate and maintain the mine. Since the formation of this alliance, Silcar and RTL have evolved Silcar’s relationship at the mine into a sub-alliance arrangement.
