Western Port Steel Mill Maintenance Silcar Provides mchanical and electrical maintenace for the BlueScope Steel Limited 1.5 million tonne per year capacity Western Port steel strip mill. High Voltage Technical Services The High Voltage Technical Services Group (HVTS) provides comprehensive testing and diagnostic services for both primary plants and secondary systems, with a focus on predictive and preventative maintenance to optimise productivity and reliability of high voltage assets. Mining Silcar provides mechanical and electrical maintenance services in an Allicance with RTL and TRUenergy for the 18 million tonne per year Yallourn brown coal mine Power Generation As part of an Alliance with TRUenergy, Silcar provides mechanicl and electrial maintenance services along with major outage execution services as part of the 1,500 megawatt brown coal fired Yallourn Power Station.
The cogeneration facility is based on an Alstom 13E2 gas turbine and HRSG, generating approximately 160MW of electrical power and 300 tonnes/hr of steam. Steam generation can be augmented with duct firing installed in the HRSG inlet duct. The facility will provide steam and electricity to the refinery, with surplus electricity being sold into the National Electricity Market. Telecommunications The wideband scope of works includes the provision of high speed data services (2Mbit/s and above) to Telstra’s wholesale, business and corporate customers. These data services include ISDN, ethernet, DDN and wholesale transmission. Access and Associated Services Silcar via its Communications business unit is a prime contractor to Telstra for Access and Associated Services in its customer access network Inter-ExchangeBackhaul Network The IEN scope of works includes the design and construction of IEN or backhaul fibre cable routes in metropolitan and country areas of VIC/NSW/QLD. The scope also includes providing significant Customer Access Network (CAN) fibre and Transport fibre cables 3G Wireless (Mobiles) Site Make Ready The purpose of the project is to provide mobiles infrastructure to increase the capacity and improve the performance of Telstra’s NEXTG & 3GIS Mobile Networks. Sentinar provides telecommunications support service using its highly skilled field workforce to deliver DC, emergency AC power requirements and Facilities Management Services at Telstra’s exchanges.
The work involves the construction of new sites such as greenfield, rooftops and co-locations as well as the design and construction of special events and/or the augmentation of existing sites, including sectorisations, expansions and tower upgrades across Australia.
