Silcar's
value proposition is built around four strategic elements
- enhanced
asset productivity and reliability
- innovation
and access to global knowledge
- a
partnership or alliance approach to the relationships with both
clients and Silcar people
-
multi client, multi industry experience for client benefit.
The
general objective is to optimise the productivity and reliability
of our client's assets, manage risk and create a financial surplus.
Silcar's approach is to eliminate the causes of lost production
and reliability through effective systems and the willing participation
of the people involved.
Application
of the Silcar approach has seen extraordinary improvement in the
return on the invested capital in the form of technical assets.
Most of Silcar's work is with high capital continuous processes
often in an essential service environment.
Silcar is a solid and expanding business. In 1999 Silcar was a business turning over AUD$50 million per year. In 2007 Silcar is an organisation of over 3000 people with an annual revenue in excess of AUD$500 million. This stable expansion is underpinned by the expertise and strength of Silcar’s parent companies, Siemens and Thiess.

Silcar was started in 1993 as a purpose built outsourcing maintenance organisation to provide the newly privatised power industry with the skilled resources and the management for the mechanical and electrical maintenance services. Starting from one project in the power industry, Silcar has developed to become a multi industry, multi site national organisation, that is now working with Blue Chip clients involved in heavy and light manufacturing, metals processing, pulp and paper, telecoms energy systems, power protection and distribution, mining, automotive and still with a considerable involvement with maintaining thermal power stations.
Silcar’s parent companies are Siemens Ltd and Thiess Pty Ltd. This structure allows Silcar to tap into vast technical resources and capabilities and enjoy the financial support of these two leading companies. This level of support sets Silcar apart from its competitors.
